Luke Evans, international movie star and racing enthusiast, got the chance to get behind the wheel of the Formula E car to complete laps around the Battersea Park track at the Visa London ePrix.
“This is something special because it’s electric,” he said. “It sounds very different as well which is very weird as I’m used to hearing these deafening roars and this is a very high whine but it’s actually very impressive to watch.”
Despite having taken part in some wild car chases in Fast and Furious 6, he was first accompanied on track by the Qualcomm Safety Car before being able to test the boundaries in the all-electric Spark-Renault SRT_01E.
Once safely back in the pits, Evans was clearly thrilled by his time in the car: “It’s mind-blowing, absolutely mind-blowing. I’ve never done anything like that in my life. You just want to keep going faster and faster and faster. It’s extraordinary, I just want to get back in and do it again - that’s the only problem!”
