Formula E Opens Applications for Season 12 Better Futures Fund, Committing €275,000 to Community and Environmental Projects

Formula E has today launched applications for its flagship charitable support programme – the Better Futures Fund – providing direct support to local projects and causes across all race locations in Season 12.

Better Futures Fund Season 12

Launched two years ago, the Better Futures Fund was created to build on the positive legacy Formula E leaves behind in host cities, maintaining the world-leading sustainability standards that the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship sets across the sporting and sustainability sectors.

Aligned with Formula E’s purpose of accelerating sustainable human progress through the power of electric racing, the Fund empowers and supports communities via impactful initiatives that will leave a legacy well beyond race weekends through funding (€25,000 per city), awareness and engagement with Formula E.

Focusing on initiatives aligned to Formula E’s purpose and sustainability strategy, delivering environmental and social impact, the Better Futures Fund is designed to leave a significant tangible impact all year round, far beyond each scheduled race week.

Evolving for Season 12:

Building on the success of Season 11, the Better Futures Fund evolves in Season 12 to strengthen its legacy and deepen its connection to Formula E’s mission of accelerating sustainable human progress. This season, the fund will:

  • Renew support for select existing projects from Season 11 (2024/25)
  • Sharpen focus on impact themes authentic to Formula E’s identity
  • Deepen engagement with Formula E

Alongside the funding itself, Formula E is committing to working with each charity holistically, providing awareness of the causes, engaging directly with the organisation and offering volunteer support while in the city. Organisations will also be included within Formula E’s wider sustainability strategy, including hosting representatives at the track and introducing them to the wider Formula E ecosystem as part of the series’ ‘Inspiration Hour’ held every race week, to engage local communities with Formula E’s races.

Season 12 Impact Themes

For Season 12, the Fund will focus on three core impact themes that connect directly to Formula E’s values and identity:

  • Mobility for Good - How We Move: Supporting projects that leverage mobility to create impact, or promote sustainable mobility to create social and environmental benefits.
  • Community Climate Action - How We Act & Live: Empowering communities to co-create greener, fairer futures through grassroots climate action, behaviour change, waste reduction, urban greening, and conservation projects.
  • Equality & Inclusion - Advancing equity and representation through projects that engage underrepresented groups with a focus on gender, race and social mobility, particularly where sustainability, mobility, and opportunity intersect.

Charity Application Process

  1. Expression of Interest: Charities will need to complete a short expression of interest form by the deadline in their market
  2. Review & Shortlisting: Formula E reviews all submissions and creates a shortlist based on alignment with the fund's impact themes and mission
  3. Full Proposal Submission: Shortlisted organisations are invited to submit a full funding proposal
  4. Final Selection: The selection panel will review full proposals received against funding criteria and select one cause per city

Julia Pallé, VP Sustainability at Formula E, said:

“We’re thrilled to continue our Better Futures Fund into the 2025/26 Formula E s. Following the lasting impact achieved across all race markets in last season - benefiting more than 7000 people - we’re building on that success with even greater ambition. Our mission as a championship is not just to leave each location where we race better off, but for our impact to have meaningful, measurable and lasting benefits. The upcoming season represents an evolution - sharpening our focus on community-led innovation, mobility for good, and inclusion. We’re proud to support projects that put people at the centre of change, helping communities move, act, and live better futures”.
