Wehrlein handed five-place grid penalty ahead of Jakarta race

TAG Heuer Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein will start 11th after being handed a five-place grid penalty for breaking a seal on a component of his car ahead of the race in the Indonesian capital.

Despite a qualifying performance that saw TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E's Pascal Wehrlein make it through to the quarter-finals in the Duels against DS TECHEETAH's Jean-Eric Vergne, the German driver's start will be hampered by a five-place grid drop after his team broke the seal on a component on his car.

Cautious after a disastrous race in Monaco, which saw him grind to a halt on the Grand Hotel Hairpin due to a technical fault, the team checked a component the German driver's car.

RESULTS: The full qualifying classification in Jakarta

"In the end it was close. It was down to one tenth of-a-second and it's a shame because in the race we will get a five-place grid penalty," said Wehrlein.

"We will start outside of the top 10 but we'll try and do our best and see what we can do from there. Some good points would be nice. The race win is a bit out of reach for us at the moment.

Wehrlein will start 11th on the grid ahead of the race in Jakarta, still well within reach of the points as he battles to reclaim lost ground.
