Giovinazzi currently competes in Formula 1 with Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN and is a long-term fixture at Scuderia Ferrari, as one of the team's stable of drivers.
The Italian made his F1 debut with Sauber in 2017 before moving to Alfa Romeo for a three-year spell between 2019 and the end of the current campaign. The 27-year-old has 59 starts to his name and has amassed 19 points with the team.
Giovinazzi returns to Formula E proper in Season 8 after a taste of the fully-electric, net carbon zero motor racing championship back in 2018 at the Marrakesh Rookie Test with Virgin, where he placed narrowly behind Season 7 champion Nyck de Vries on the timesheets.

"As soon as it was made public that I would not be in Formula 1 next year, I decided to participate in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. It is a category which I always followed and I am thrilled to be part of DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT in this all-electric racing series, in which I have already tested three years ago. I would like to thank Jay Penske who immediately showed great interest for having me on board.
‘I can’t wait until I will test in Valencia at the end of the month. We have an exciting year ahead of us, I will do the maximum to help the team succeed."
“Antonio is one of the most talented drivers in the world, and I am very proud to have him joining this team,” said team principal Jay Penske.
Penske: 'We've one of the strongest line-ups on the grid'
Giovinazzi's signing followed hot on the heels of the news that the American outfit would hand Brazilian Sergio Sette Camara a new deal. Sette Camara impressed in his debut campaign despite finishing 22nd in the standings.
Flashes of pace saw him make Super Pole on more than one occasion, with a best finish of fourth position in Diriyah at the season-opening event in Saudi Arabia as the team secured its biggest single race points haul in four years.

“I am very happy and proud to continue with Dragon Penske Autosport in 2022," said 23-year-old Sette Camara.
“Formula E is one of the most competitive championships in the world and I will give my absolute best in every single race to obtain the results the team deserves. I am determined to come back strong.”
“With Antonio and Sergio, we are fortunate to now have what I believe to be one of the strongest race line ups in the series," finished Penske.
