Due to a clash with the German DTM series, in which Venturi Formula E's Edoardo Mortara races for Mercedes-AMG, and the 2018 BMW i Berlin E-Prix, the Swiss driver will be unable to compete in the next race on May 19.
Replacing him, alongside teammate Maro Engel, will be Tom Dillmann, who drove for the Monegasque team for a part of last season.
“I’m delighted to be able to count on Tom once again. He has an amazing capacity to adapt and is also excellent at fine-tuning. I’m convinced he’ll be up to the task,” said Gildo Pastor, President of Venturi Formula E team
The Frenchman raced in season three of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, scoring a best finish of seventh in the second New York City E-Prix.
Dillmann has also worked as a development driver for the team, running Venturi's season five Gen2 car during the two recent closed group manufacturer tests at the Monteblanco and Calafat circuits.
With experience and success in Formula V8 3.5, Dillmann is a race-winner in GP2 and the Formula 3 Euroseries, where he was once a part of the Red Bull junior team.
After teammate Maro Engel finished fourth in Paris (round eight) of the championship, the Venturi team are currently seventh in the standings going into the Berlin race.
