With a record number of fans flocking to the EUR district in Rome to watch some of the most determined driving in the championship's history, the ABB FIA Formula E Championship's 40th race was one of the best yet. Watching all the action trackside was racing driver Filipe Massa, the Prince of Monaco as well as British actress Sienna Miller, who we caught up with down on the grid, just moments before the race.
"Rome is the most beautiful city in the world and the Formula E is fascinating - this is the first time I've been at any Formula E event and I can't wait for the race," says Miller, gazing up at the fans lining the grandstands. “I love cars and I love racing but this has been something completely new and unique for me. Exciting racing and a beautiful city really is a wonderful combination.”
But the star's Formula E experience extended well beyond the grid. Starting the race weekend with a cocktail party in the elegant surroundings of Casina Valadier, Miller met with some of Formula E's very own street circuit champions before heading to the Circuito Cittadino Dell’EUR the following morning.
Taking a tour of the pit lane and garages, the actress headed out for a hot lap with Formula E Founder and CEO Alejandro Agag. See how she got on in the video below.
"It was great! I mean, when he's accelerating and all you can see is a wall in front, it does induce some mild anxiety!" says Miller. "But in the beginning, she was like super cool, laughed Agag, stepping out of the BMW i8 Qualcomm Saftey Car.
"It was amazing, I loved it. I've done Top Gear before, so I've driven - well, not exactly the fastest car in the world - but I've driven fast before. Alejandro is more of a daredevil than I am - he definitely loves the adrenaline!" she adds.
