Senna: It’s good to be back

Brazilian thrilled with best-ever Formula E finish

Senna: It’s good to be back

Bruno Senna expressed his delight at returning to the podium after achieving his best-ever result in the FIA Formula E Championship at the Visa London ePrix.

The Mahindra Racing star, who qualified second on the grid in mixed qualifying conditions, was unable to challenge Nico Prost for the win but took a strong second place finish in an eventful race.

Speaking at the post-race press conference, he said: “We had some times where I was sure I was going to be on the podium and then something went wrong. Today I finally got to second place. There’s always one more if you’re in second, but today I had no chance against Nico. He was faster, I was trying to keep up with him but also at the same time I had to do my race.

“Today was all about being safe on the track, and we did a good job. The team did a great job. The team was working well with the car and I had no issues. Everything went to plan and here is the result.”

On whether he could repeat his heroics in tomorrow’s race, he said: “For sure I got lucky with qualifying, same as I did last year, so I guess the British weather favours me a little bit, so thank you. To be fair, last year in the race we had a good pace as well, and a very good fight with Seb [Buemi] on the Sunday so tomorrow I’ll try to do it again. I know that in the dry some cars have better pure pace than us this is also about consistency and today I had it enough in my wings that if I need to defend I had a good amount.”
