Buemi sets the early pace

Encouraging opening practice for Andretti

Buemi sets the early pace

Championship leader Sebastien Buemi started the Faraday Future Long Beach ePrix in the perfect fashion by setting pace in the opening free practice session.

The Renault e.dams racer recorded a lap of 57.383, putting him 0.4s ahead of DS Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird. It was a good session for the Andretti team, with Simona de Silvestro an excellent third and one place and 0.006s ahead of team-mate Robin Frijns.

Showing the competitiveness of the season one package, Salvador Duran – who topped the times for a large part of the session – was fifth fastest for Team Aguri. Stephane Sarrazin was sixth quickest for Venturi.

Last year’s winner Nelson Piquet Jr was 16th fastest for NEXTEV TCR, just behind two-time Long Beach Grand Prix winner Mike Conway, who’s racing for Venturi.

The next session takes place at 10.30am (PST).
